Written Report

Title of Your Project

  • Your Final Paper needs to be size 11 Font.
  • Margins and paper size are already set up to the guidelines. (A4, 2CM Margins).
  • Single space for more space to write.
  • Make sure everything you insert is legible and easy to read, examiners will not be able to Zoom in.
    -No External Links
  • Maximum of 14 Pages for the final draft
  • Recommended to write your draft in Google Docs and then move your project to Canva or another design program to lay it out like a magazine once the text is finalized.
  • You will be able to get more information in that way and it will be more aesthetically pleasing.
  • Bibliography is a separate document
  • Make sure you cite your sources
  • Remember No Names of You, Your Supervisor, The School Etc. It needs to be anonymous. Photos are ok.

Ai: State a Learning Goal for the Project and Explain how Personal Interest Led to that Goal

You can remove the italicized headings from your version, they are there to help you with the organization of your paper but are not needed for the final submission. A: Planning, B: Applying Skills C: Reflecting

Introduction

  • This should be a hook to draw the reader in, paint a picture of why you chose your topic and product, and why it is meaningful to you.
  • What makes your project PERSONAL? the experiences, interests, and ideas that make it important and interesting to you

Learning Goal

  • Explicitly state your learning goal
  • How did your personal interest lead you to your goal?

Aii: State an intended product and develop appropriate success criteria for the product.

Specifications

Not all projects need this. Helpful for tech-focused projects, create a list of what your product should look like.
-clearly define the specific characteristics of a high-quality product/outcome

Developing Criteria

  • Criteria must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, testable and directly connected to the goal
  • Presents multiple appropriate, detailed success criteria for the project that clearly define the specific characteristics of a high-quality product/outcome
  • Put them into a table like a rubric
  • Use the IB terminology to help you create it
  • Reflect on how you created your criteria/ what was your thought process
  • Explain any changes made to the criteria.
  • Explain WHY you made the changes to the criteria.
  • Discuss WHY you picked the criteria you did
  • Did you use any research to create your criteria? Explain it here.

  • specific dates, deadlines, and clear records of adjustment to the project’s timeline.

Ci: Explain the Impact of the project on yourself or your learning.

Reflecting on the Impact of the Personal Project

The reflection evaluates* how the student has extended his or her knowledge and understanding of the topic and the impact it has had on themselves or their learning, using meaningful examples, detailed descriptions and insightful explanations.
*Evaluate: Make an appraisal by weighing up the strengths and limitations.

  • What did you learn?
  • Would you do this again?
  • Give more info on HOW you have extended your knowledge and understanding of topic
  • How did this project impact you?
  • How did it change the way you think or interact with others?
  • OPTIONAL: How did you grow in your understanding of the global contexts?
  • Make sure you use detailed specific examples, don’t be general

  • Process Journal entry reflecting on progress
  • ATL Skills evaluation- where are you now

Development as an IB Learner

The reflection evaluates the student’s development as an IB learner using appropriate examples, detailed descriptions and insightful explanations.

  • Use examples
  • Make sure to use the specific Learner Profile attributes and don’t just imply them.
  • Learner Profile Attributes: Reflective, Balanced, Knowledgeable, Open-Minded, Inquirers, Risk Takers, Caring, Principled, Communicators, Thinkers
  • Discuss the strengths AND weaknesses
  • Identify the challenges you faced.
  • Identify learner profile attributes you grew in.
  • Give specific examples of HOW you have grown as an IB learner.
  • Discuss HOW the project will impact your future learning… give examples
  • Make sure to actually use the Learner Profile Terms

Cii: Evaluate the product based on the success criteria.

Evaluation of Product

The evaluation analyses the quality of the product/success of the outcome against all the stated criteria.

  • Evaluate Product Against Your Criteria
  • What worked, what didn’t?
  • Where did you meet, exceed etc?
  • What would you change about your process?
  • Discuss WHY you made changes to your project
  • Evaluate the final product against criteria
  • Give more details about WHY you achieved each criterion level.
  • Discuss how you could have made the product better
  • Discuss what you would do differently next time
  • Analyze the quality of the product against the criteria
  • Link this to your evidence
  • Discuss the solutions you developed to meet the challenges of this project

  • Success Criteria
  • Highlight the level you reached
  • Add another column to justify your grading of yourself on your project
    (You can refer to the criteria from earlier in the report so you don’t have to put them in twice to save space)
  • Survey Results of other people assessing your project based on your criteria

Final Thoughts

  • If you have space you can add some final thoughts if not, just take it out.
  • Also, feel free to swap Cii and Ci so you evaluate the product first and then end with the reflection if you choose not to do final thoughts.

The Bibliography is a separate document. It needs to be saved as its own PDF.
